    The short version: CarMind stores all your data locally on your device. We do not collect, transmit, or store any personal information on our servers. No account required.
  

1. Information We Collect

CarMind is designed to be privacy-first. We collect minimal information:

Vehicle data (names, odometer readings, service history) — stored locally on your device only, never transmitted to our servers.
Documents (driver's licence and insurance information) — stored locally on your device only, never transmitted.
AI chat messages — for Pro users, messages are sent to xAI's Grok API to generate responses. Free users' questions are processed locally using our built-in knowledge base.
Payment information — handled entirely by Stripe. CarMind never sees or stores your credit card details.
Usage analytics — we use standard Vercel hosting logs which may include your IP address and pages visited. These are not linked to personal identity.

2. How We Use Your Information

The information that stays on your device is used only to provide the CarMind app experience — displaying your vehicle data, service history, reminders, and documents. We do not access this data in any way.

For Pro users, AI messages are sent to xAI's Grok API solely to generate vehicle advice responses. We do not store these conversations on our end.

3. Local Storage

CarMind uses your browser's localStorage to save your data on your device. This data is:

Stored entirely on your device
Never transmitted to CarMind servers
Accessible only by the CarMind app in your browser
Cleared if you clear your browser data or uninstall the PWA

We recommend using the Backup feature regularly to export your data to a file stored on your device.

4. Advertising

CarMind displays Google AdSense ads on the free tier. Google may use cookies and similar technologies to show personalized ads based on your interests. For more information, visit Google's advertising policies.

CarMind Pro subscribers do not see ads.

5. Location Data

The "Nearby Shops" and "Tow Truck" features request your device's location to find nearby services. This location data is:

Used only to query the OpenStreetMap database for nearby businesses
Not stored by CarMind
Not linked to your identity

You can deny location access and manually enter a city or postal code instead.

6. Third-Party Services

CarMind uses the following third-party services:

Stripe — payment processing for Pro subscriptions. Stripe Privacy Policy

Google AdSense — advertising on the free tier. Google Privacy Policy

7. Children's Privacy

CarMind is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent update. Continued use of CarMind after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
